Clean technology options at Sligo General Hospital
In a move designed to improve its environmental performance, the North Western Health Board (NWHB) developed a Cleaner Greener Production project for Sligo General Hospital (SGH). This project was aimed at reducing the volume of waste sent to landfill; reducing resource usage throughout the Hospital; incorporating green procurement principles into the Hospital’s purchasing strategy; reducing discharges of wastewater to public sewers, and raising awareness of environmental issues amongst staff throughout SGH. NWHB proposes to introduce a similar programme in other healthcare facilities throughout the health board region.
